My group and I started our music marketing project by figuring out what specific genre we got. We figured out that our genre is rock. The research conducted was very useful to develop our artist, as our knowledge regarding rock is very minimal. With our research, we were able to see various examples of bands and artists that are successful in the rock genre. For example, there are 21 pilots and Jxdn who both interact with their fans to increase their engagement and popularity.
We were given four different types of rock songs to pick from. My group and I need to select a song that will match with our artist and it reflects what he stands for. After selecting the song, we utilize the research we came up with to create a marketing plan for our artist. For example, we must select the different social media platforms that our artist is going to have a presence in and engage with the artist's target audience. Then we must create a music video for his first single.
My group and I selected the song “My Name Is Human” by: Highly Suspect. We find it difficult to develop a specific artist with the song because of the genre we have been given. Our group is unfamiliar with the genre of rock, however with the research conducted, we believe this song is best fitted. We have chosen to select one artist instead of a band, as it is easier to promote one person. After selecting the song we are developing the artist. We have decided that we are trying to reach a younger audience so the artist will be using: Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.
